‘World of Color – Season of Light’ Is Glowing Into Disney California Adventure Park November 10

World of Color – Season of Light,” opens November 10 at Disney California Adventure park.

“Walt Disney’s Wonderful World of Color” made its television debut 55 years ago this week, bringing the wonder of full-color programming to people across the country and introducing the world to my personal favorite character, Professor Ludwig Von Drake. That landmark show served as the inspiration behind the original “World of Color” when it debuted at Disney California Adventure park back in 2010. Much like the TV anthology series itself, “World of Color” has been presented in a number of versions and variations over the years, and for the 2016 holiday season, we’re celebrating the warmth and wonder of the holidays with a sparkling new winter fantasy.
“World of Color – Season of Light” combines classic holiday songs with memorable moments from treasured Disney animated films to create an experience that wraps you in the warm glow of holiday magic. From its mesmerizing start to its stunningly beautiful finale, “World of Color – Season of Light” illuminates the night and weaves together an emotional tapestry that will fill your heart with the spirit of the season.

The show begins with the last leaves of fall giving way to the arrival of winter, as Mickey and his pals decorate their homes for Christmas. Themes of love, home and family run throughout “World of Color – Season of Light,” with special appearances by Lady and Tramp, Andy’s family from “Toy Story,” a “Mele Kalikimaka” with Stitch and his ‘Ohana and a “Feliz Navidad” from the Three Caballeros. At one point in the show, Goofy goes all out in a spectacular ode to over-the-top holiday light displays … until his ode turns to overload and everything short circuits, leading to a “Blue Christmas” with Sadness from Disney•Pixar’s “Inside Out.”

Everything builds to a stunning grand finale, illuminating the lagoon with the light of hope and filling our hearts with the spirit of peace, joy and goodwill to all. “World of Color – Season of Light” debuts November 10, 2016, at Disney California Adventure park and will be presented nightly through January 8, 2017.

All-New ‘Frightfully Fun Parade’ to Debut During Mickey’s Halloween Party at Disneyland Park

Beginning this year, you are invited to gather for chills and thrills when the all-new “Frightfully Fun Parade” takes to the streets at Disneyland® Park, featuring a spectacle of spooky spirits from the deepest bayous of New Orleans to Halloweentown and beyond.

The Headless Horseman of Sleepy Hollow sets the mood as he arrives on his ghostly black steed just ahead of the parade itself, carrying a flickering jack-o-lantern as a warning to everyone along the parade route.

From “Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas,” Jack Skellington the Pumpkin King brings greetings from Halloweentown, as residents arrive to celebrate their favorite time of year. Grim, grinning ghosts come out to socialize when Disney’s iconic Haunted Mansion attraction comes to “afterlife,” with swirling ballroom dancers, ominous gravediggers and a trio of hitchhiking ghosts. Inspired by Disney’s “The Princess and the Frog,” Dr. Facilier calls on mystical powers, summoning his Shadow Men from the bayou to loom large over his strange and twisted Voodoo parlor, and the mischievous Disney Villains appear out of the darkness, ready to stir up some trouble. A dark and dungeon-like lair takes over the parade route, bringing with it a wicked gathering of villainy from Hades and the Evil Queen to Jafar, Cruella and more!

The “Frightfully Fun Parade” will be presented exclusively during Mickey’s Halloween Party, a separately ticketed event at Disneyland Park hosted over 17 nights from Sept. 23-Oct. 31, 2016.

Halloween on the High Seas

The Disney Park Blog shared some great tips by , Public Relations Manager, Disney Cruise Line

This fall we’re bringing back our popular Halloween on the High Seas cruises so your family can have a ghoulishly good time on vacation. Festivities abound throughout September and October on the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy and during October on the Disney Magic. With so much fun taking place, you’re likely wondering how you can make the most of your celebration. Here are some ways to ensure it’s a special experience for the entire family…
How to Make the Most of Your Halloween on the High Seas
Bring a Costume: This may seem like a no-brainer, but there’s always that one family member who thinks they’re too old to join the fun. Find your inner child, pick out attire that makes you happy, and show it off during our lively costume parties! Families can attend Mickey’s Mouse-querade Party with games, dancing, Disney friends and lots of candy. Adults can enter our late-night Halloween Isn’t Just For Kids costume contest in the nighttime entertainment district.
How to Make the Most of Your Halloween on the High Seas
Plant a Pumpkin: Your family can play a role in bringing our Pumpkin Tree to life. The tree is tended to by a mysterious, storytelling caretaker, who you can join the first night of the cruise in planting enchanted pumpkin seeds beneath the shadow of the eerie branches. Then watch as the tree magically transforms throughout the cruise from barren to the life of the party, full with unique and spooky Jack-O-Lanterns.
How to Make the Most of Your Halloween on the High Seas
Listen Up: Get into the spirit of the season with spooky sights and sounds. Enjoy our Creepy Cabaret—a band of ghostly musicians—as they perform Halloween-themed music live in the atrium. Then join us for Haunted Stories of the Sea, where the bravest cruisers gather under the stars to hear some true—or not so true—tales of the sea told by a mysterious sea captain storyteller.
How to Make the Most of Your Halloween on the High Seas
Say ‘Yes’ to Spooky Movies: All throughout the cruise you can catch Halloween-themed movies on Funnel Vision by the family pool and in your stateroom. And on one special night, you can join us for A Nightmare Before Christmas—Sing and Scream, which is an interactive movie experience inspired by Tim Burton’s “The Nightmare Before Christmas” where you are part of the action. It’s followed by a meet-and-greet with Jack Skellington and Sally, a frightfully fun looking pair, don’t you think?
How to Make the Most of Your Halloween on the High Seas
Treat Yourself: This Halloween you can do more than just sneak a few pieces of your kids’ candy. Our chefs have conjured some very special treats for Halloween, including chocolate cake with pumpkin filling, spider cakes and “Spooky Juice.” These sweets are of course in addition to the assortment of desserts and special beverages you can indulge in throughout your cruise, so it’s a good thing we don’t count calories on vacation!
Those of you who have sailed with us for Halloween on the High Seas in years past, what suggestions do you have for first timers?

Get a Peek at New Star Wars-Themed Land at Disneyland Park

In April, we celebrated the official groundbreaking of Star Wars-themed lands coming to Disneyland® and Walt Disney World® Resorts, and beginning today, Disneyland Park Guests can get a glimpse of this exciting and immersive experience. A new image has been unveiled on the fence along Big Thunder Trail in Frontierland - one of the entry points to this never-before-seen planet in the Star Wars galaxy - revealing more about what you will find in this all-new land.

Nestled between towering spires of rock, this thriving port contains a seemingly familiar architecture of markets, landing zones and buildings. Look closely and you may find hints of some of the thrilling experiences that are coming - like the Millennium Falcon peeking out of one of the cargo bays, marking the location where you will get the opportunity to pilot the fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy.

The 14-acre land will be the largest-ever single-themed land expansion at Disneyland Resort.  Stay tuned.... we'll continue to bring you updates as we learn more about this planet, as well as the citizens, aliens and droids who populate it.

Top Ten Can't-Miss Experiences at Disneyland Resort This Summer

From a new live stage show to all-new attractions, there’s so much for your family to experience at the Disneyland® Resort this summer! Here are ten experiences you won’t want to miss.

  • The new “Frozen – Live at the Hyperion” immerses Disney California Adventure® Park Guests in the emotional story of Anna and Elsa in an exciting theatrical interpretation for the stage, including elaborate costumes and sets, stunning special effects, show-stopping production numbers and some unique surprises.
  • On Soarin' Around the World at Disney California Adventure® Park, your family can take flight on an all-new adventure to exciting destinations.
  • The fun-filled Luigi’s Rollickin’ Roadsters, new in Cars Land at Disney California Adventure Park, is rolling with fun as Luigi’s cugini (or family) have come from Carsoli, Italy, to help celebrate Race Day in Radiator Springs. Your family can join in the fun by hopping aboard miniature Italian roadsters, in the style of late 1950s micro cars. The cars perform the traditional dances of their village, moving to upbeat music and Luigi’s singing in a precision-choreographed dance across a trackless “dance floor.”
  • In Tomorrowland at Disneyland Park, Star Wars Launch Bay invites Guests to discover authentic replicas of film props and encounter Star Wars characters such as Chewbacca and Kylo Ren.
  • The Star Wars-themed transformation of Space Mountain into Hyperspace Mountain thrusts your family into an X-wing battle as they race through the darkness. The experience is enhanced by a new soundtrack, inspired by the Star Wars films’ musical themes and re-orchestrated to match every move in the attraction.
  • At Star Tours – The Adventures Continue, you can encounter a new adventure and characters from “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” while journeying aboard a Starspeeder 1000.
  • Make sure you don’t miss your chance to see the Disneyland Resort Diamond Celebration dazzle and shine before the celebration ends Sept. 5, 2016.
  • The sparkling “Paint the Night” parade builds on the tradition of breathtaking nighttime parades in Disneyland park that began with the “Main Street Electrical Parade.” Illuminated almost entirely by LED lights, “Paint the Night” is a state-of-the art, vibrant wonder that immerses Guests in the magical, luminescent worlds of many Disney and Disney●Pixar characters.
  • The “Disneyland Forever” fireworks spectacular entertains Guests from the tips of their toes to the sky high above, surrounding the audience with music, dazzling visual projections and other special effects that bring the pyrotechnics to life in surprising new ways. Your family may enjoy the projections from multiple locations, including Main Street, U.S.A., and “it’s a small world” mall.

  • At Disney California Adventure® Park, “World of Color – Celebrate! The Wonderful World of Walt Disney” is a fun-filled version of the popular, nighttime “World of Color” spectacular. Award-winning actor Neil Patrick Harris joins Mickey Mouse on a magical water canvas, bringing to life the remarkable story of Walt Disney and The Happiest Place on Earth with animated imagery, live-action film, fountains, lasers, special effects and a stirring musical score.
