Between now and Christmas Day, Santa will be making stops throughout Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort. Here are some of the places you’re bound to find him:
Be sure to consult the in-park Times Guide or ask a cast member to find out just when you can see Santa on the day of your visit, and have a wonderful ho-ho-holiday!

New Year's Eve plans at Walt Disney World Resort

Shawn, over at the Disney Parks blog, just gave this update:

It may still be November, but I bet many of you are already thinking ahead and starting to make plans for New Year’s Eve. Well, if you’re going to be ringing in 2015 at Walt Disney World Resort, here’s a rundown of some of the entertainment we have planned for this year’s celebration.
0715BZ_1771GV38058136-742x380
  • Epcot – It’s a night-long party throughout Epcot, with unique entertainment including a DJ and light show at the Future World Fountain Stage, dancing under flame effects and a smoke-billowing dragon in China, a British blast to the past in United Kingdom, Euro-pop and lasers in Italy, and a Latin band and DJ on the America Gardens Stage. Cap it all off with one of two showings of “IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth” fireworks, at 6:00 p.m. or 11:40 p.m., followed by a countdown and pyrotechnic salute to the new year.
  • Disney’s Hollywood Studios – Exclusive specialty drinks and food items are available throughout the night, as the Event Stage comes alive with an energetic DJ and performances by Mulch, Sweat & Shears. As midnight approaches, the band takes the stage to count down to 2015 and plays live during a jaw-dropping fireworks spectacular.
  • Magic Kingdom Park – You can get a head start on the festivities, with a special New Year’s Eve eve presentation of “Fantasy in the Sky” fireworks at 11:50 p.m. on Tuesday, December 30. The same show will be repeated on December 31.

Ten Things Disney Cruisers Never Say

A fun post from the Disney Parks Blog last week:

Any Disney cruiser will tell you all about the magical memories they are making on their voyage, complete with fun family activities, delicious dining and awesome entertainment. But as much as there is to talk about, there are some things you’ll never hear anyone say aboard a Disney ship...
  1. “I’m not sure a worry-free vacation is right for our family.”
  1. “One ride on the AquaDuck is enough for me.”
  2. “I don’t want any free ice cream.”
  3. “There’s not enough space to store my luggage!”
  4. “I’ll just wait to see that new movie back home in a theater.”
  1. “I totally didn’t cry at the end of Disney’s Believe.”
  2. “But I like to pay for room service!”
  3. “I wish the serving team wasn’t so good at keeping my kids happy during dinner.”
  4. “There aren’t enough fruity drink options.”
  1. “It’s Castaway Cay day? I think I’ll stay in my stateroom.”

Don't you agree!!! (with my hand raised high!)

A few fun additions to Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party 2014

Walt Disney World announced on their blog, there are some exciting additions coming!

Playing a Halloween Tune

A few new villain activities:

The popular “Villains Mix & Mingle – Live on Stage” returns to the Castle Forecourt Stage several times each night, with an unforgettable performance by beloved baddies from Disney films. Throughout the evening, guests interested in meeting their favorite Disney villains will now encounter them at locations around the park. Look for Jafar in Adventureland and the Queen of Hearts near Mad Tea Party in Fantasyland, while Lotso lurks near Buzz Lightyear in Tomorrowland.
At Princess Fairytale Hall, guests can choose between visiting Anna and Elsa or dropping in to see Snow White and Aurora, but be warned! The Queen and Maleficent are crashing this princess party, joining Snow White and Aurora for the night.

Club Villian:
Another all-new feature of this year’s event, Club Villain, takes over The Diamond Horseshoe in Liberty Square with a wicked atmosphere, lively music, glowing décor, and appearances by Cruella De Vil, Dr. Facilier, Anastasia, Drizella, Lady Tremaine, and more!

Some updates to the Boo to You Halloween Parade:
We’re also introducing enhancements to Mickey’s “Boo-to-You” Halloween Parade, including the expansion of the Phineas and Ferb Creepa Crew pre-parade interactive experience to more of the parade route and the first-ever appearance of Wreck-It Ralph and Vanellope in the parade.
Of course, Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party also features treat trails with candy galore, the Monstrous Scream-O-Ween Ball in Tomorrowland, appearances by Jack and Sally from Tim Burton’s “The Nightmare Before Christmas,” the ride of the Headless Horseman, and “Happy HalloWishes” fireworks.

Thanks to the Disney Parks blog for always keeping us up today on the fun happenings!

How to make your FastPass+ selections

Here's a step-by-step tutorial to help make the FastPass+ selection go a  little smoother for you!

1. Login to your www.MyDisneyExperience.com account

2. Hover over "My Disney Experience" and click on "My Reservations" to be sure that your reservation has been linked and you indeed are ready to proceed.

Note: sometimes this screen takes a minute to load your reservation details.

Then, after viewing your reservation details, and confirming that you are 60 days (or less) from your arrival date, you are ready to begin making your FastPass+ selections.

Now....let's begin!

Hover over My Disney Experience, then click on FastPass+

Then, click on New FastPass+

Then, choose "Select All"

(if you want to choose individual FastPass+ selections for your family members, you can do that, but for ease of use, in this tutorial, we will work with "Select All")

Choose your Park and Date:

On this page, you will select the date you are working on, and the Park you will be in that day.

It will default to Magic Kingdom.

Choose your FastPass+ Selections:

Now...the fun begins.

You will choose your FastPass+ selections here.

You may choose up to 3 per day.

You do NOT have to choose 3.
You may choose only 1 or 2 if you would like.
But no more than 3.

And only one park per day.

Once you have chosen 3, select the "next" button.

Choose your Time:

This page gives you options.
You will want to chose the "best option" that works for you.

Keeping this in mind:
After this page, you can updated the time of the FastPass+
So, don't be discouraged if the "Choose your Time" page doesn't give you the most desirable time options.

Congratulations! Your FastPass+ selections for today have been confirmed.

Change the Time:
On this same page (the Congratulations page)  you can click the "Modify" button just below the name of the attraction.

Then, click the dropdown box, with the time options and choose the time that works best for you.

Then, be sure to click UPDATE when you are finished!

And then! There ya go!

You are ready to move to the next day!!!

New Disney Cruise Line Infant Age Limit Policy

Effective July 18, 2014, for all new bookings for sailings commencing after Jan. 1, 2015, the minimum age to sail aboard the Disney Cruise Line ships will increase from 12 weeks to 6 months of age on most itineraries. The minimum age for Transatlantic, Hawai'i and Panama Canal itineraries will increase to 1 year of age. This change is consistent with the age restrictions of others in the cruise industry.

Guests with existing reservations to sail in 2015 with a child between the ages of 12 weeks and 1 year will be allowed to sail on their existing reservations. After July 18, 2014, all new bookings for 2015 sailings must comply with the new age limits.

Disneyland Resort Diamond Celebration Logo

Today, in addition to celebrating the 59th birthday of the Disneyland Resort, we gave guests and fans a sneak peek at our upcoming Disneyland Resort Diamond Celebration, which begins spring 2015. We’re excited for all of what’s to come next year, but in the meantime, here’s your first look at the logo for this sparkling celebration.

“It’s an incredible time at the Disneyland Resort as we prepare for next year’s Diamond Celebration,” said Michael Colglazier, president, Disneyland Resort. “We’re excited to honor our rich history, to celebrate the incredible magic that fills our resort today, and to create unforgettable memories with our guests for many years to come.”
As part of this morning’s festivities, we’re inviting the generations of families and friends who have visited to share their favorite memories through the photos they have taken at the resort. We’ll share some of the photos here on the Disney Parks Blog, and one lucky guest will have a chance to win a trip to the start of the 60th anniversary celebration in spring 2015. Starting today, fans in the United States and District of Columbia are invited to submit photos that represent their memories from the Disneyland Decades – 1950s, 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s and 2000 to the present. Using hashtag #Disneyland60Contest, guests may share the photos via Twitter or Instagram. Let us know the decade in which the photo was taken in the description or tweet. We look forward to celebrating 60 years of The Happiest Place on Earth with you!

Fun craft - Disney Photo Mat

posted on July 15th, 2014 by Erin Glover, Social Media Director, Disneyland Resort

If a picture says a thousand words, I say a picture frame can say a thousand more. In this new “Show Your DIY Disney Side,” I’m making quick and easy photo mats using Disneyland Resort tickets and guide maps.

As much as I love sharing pictures with friends on social media, there’s something special about good ol’ unfiltered, un-hashtagged photo prints. What better way to put these beauties on display than with a unique photo mat? I used Disney Parks tickets and maps because they’re bright and colorful (Plus, it’s a great way to show your Disney Side).
If you have the materials, it’s fun to theme your mat to your photo – admission tickets for a concert photo, a street map for a road-trip snapshot, leftover gift wrap for a birthday photo — the options are endless!
Supplies:
  • Any decorative paper (I used my old park tickets and a guide map, but any other decorative paper will work)
  • Picture frames (I used 8” x 10” and 4” x 6” frames)
  • Craft knife
  • Your favorite photos (I used a 4” x 6” photo for the bigger frame and wallet-sized photo for the smaller, but you can use whatever sizes you’d like)
Step 1: Take the picture frame apart, separating the frame, cardboard backing and glass.
Step 2: Lay the guide map or decorative paper out flat over a tabletop.
Tip: Since we’ll be using our craft knife on this surface, make sure to protect your tabletop! A thick paper bag or some cardboard will do.

Step 3: Cut your desired paper to fill the frame (you can use the glass as a guide). This will form your photo map.
Tip: If using park tickets instead of a guide map or large decorative paper, you might not need to cut anything at all! Skip to Step 5.
Step 4: Place the photo over the center of the photo mat. Using the craft knife, cut out the center of the mat using the photo as a size guide.

Step 5: Place the photo face-up in the center of the picture frame and place the photo mat (or neatly arranged park tickets) on top of (or around) the photo.
UPDATE 7/16/14: I wanted to share this great tip from my fellow cast member, Gray, who works at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge – “As a photo preservationist myself, I would like to suggest that you only use copies of photos and never the originals, as the tickets and maps are acidic and will degrade photos over time.” Thanks, Gray!

Step 6: Carefully place the glass on top to lock everything into place.
