Beginning in early November, the Disney cruise ships will transform into glittering wonderlands as they are “decked out” for another season of Very Merrytime Cruises, our special holiday sailings packed with festive events for the whole family!

“Frozen, A Musical Spectacular” Stage Show Coming to Disney Cruise Line

For the “first time in forever,” the beloved animated hit “Frozen” is getting the Disney Cruise Line theatrical treatment as a new stage show exclusively aboard the Disney Wonder. “Frozen, A Musical Spectacular” debuts, along with a wave of new enhancements to the ship, on cruises starting Nov. 10, 2016, from Galveston, Texas.

Tiana's Place is coming to the Disney Wonder

While the Disney Wonder is in dry dock, one of the many changes is Tiana's Place!

The Princess and the Frog is the magnificent inspiration for this location. Complete with a southern-style menu, while surrounded by the sights and sounds of New Orleans jazz.

This new spot is certain to transport guests on board, straight the bayou, while sparking a toe-tapping pep in their step!


And, as a side note, I really hope their are Mickey Shaped beignets on the dessert menu :)

Disney Cruise Line Returning to New York, California and Texas in Fall 2017

Exciting news! In fall of 2017, Disney cruisers will once again be able to sail from New York, California and Texas. These special seasons – homeporting from New York City, San Diego and Galveston – are in addition to cruises from Florida (Port Canaveral and Miami). Here are the highlights…

From New York City: Canada Coast and Bahamas Cruises
Cruises from New York City on the Disney Magic include a variety of Canada coast and Bahamas itineraries. Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, is a new port of call on a seven-night Canada sailing – our longest-ever voyage to the Atlantic Canada coast. Bar Harbor, Maine, is another new port of call and part of a five-night sailing that will also stop at Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada.
Seven- and eight-night sailings to the Bahamas from New York all include a visit to Castaway Cay and to Port Canaveral, Fla., giving you the opportunity to visit Walt Disney World Resort. Each guest on these sailings will receive a one-day Walt Disney World Park Hopper ticket and round-trip transportation for the short drive between the ship and the resort.

From San Diego, California: Baja and Mexican Riviera Cruises
San Diego voyages on the Disney Wonder visit Baja and the Mexican Riviera. In Cabo San Lucas and Ensenada, Mexico, you’ll enjoy world-famous beaches and snorkeling. Puerto Vallerta and Mazatlan are where cliff diving and ziplining through the jungle canopy take center stage.

From Galveston, Texas: Caribbean and Bahamas Cruises
Following the season in San Diego, the Disney Wonder will sail from Galveston, Texas on seven-night cruises to the Caribbean and the Bahamas. Disney Cruise Line update:
“Frozen” Characters Appearing on Select Disney Cruise Line Sailings This Summer
Princess Anna and Queen Elsa from the popular Disney animated film, “Frozen” are appearing on select 7-night and longer sailings aboard Disney Magic, Disney Wonder and Disney Fantasy throughout the summer.

You can meet and greet these favorite Disney Royals at various times during select cruises.

Please note this summer’s royal tour does not currently include visits aboard the Disney Dream.

Disney Cruise Line - must do vacation!

It's just no secret that I am a lover of all Disney Vacations.

However, it's very clear when someone says "so what about a Disney Cruise?!" and my eyes just light up.

Don't get me wrong, I love being in the parks, and everything that goes along with that, but I think as my kids have gotten older and life is just "busier" and we are all very much a slave our electronic leash (you know, the phone or the upgrade we just HAVE to have!!!)

Anyways, as life has progressed, I think I love to partner a Disney Vacation, with a complete disconnect from the rest of the world.

We have great dinners together, we play together, we focus on each other, and yes...we even take a nap or two!

So, then, when I finish convincing you that you MUST try a Disney Cruise Line Vacation, then come all of the "must-do" items.

So, I thought I would list a few here:

But, of course, I must say....don't book a Disney Cruise on your own! Use an Authorized Disney Travel Planner. The tips and resources they can offer are priceless! Oh, and I just happen to know an amazing Authorized Disney Travel Planner!!! :)

Things you MUST know before going on a Disney Cruise:

1. The staterooms are "small". They are much larger than other cruise lines, because they are made for families, but even still. They are small. Pack tight!


2. Be sure when you book your cruise, you go ahead and login to your Planning Center online.
Don't procrastinate on this one.
You want to go ahead and reserve your Port Adventures.
Register your children for the Oceaneer Lab or Oceaneer Club (even if you think they will never go in there! This will save lots of time on the ship, if you have done all of this in advance!)

3. Plan to dress up for Pirate Night!! Even if you only wear Pirate Patches and a fun pirate tshirt! Play along! There aren't many opportunities that you have to look crazy as a family, and it's totally acceptable (and you'll be glad you did!)

4. Bring a cup. Preferably a travel-style cup with a lid.
Coca-Cola products, coffee, hot cocoa are available on the pool deck with unlimited refills, however, the cups that are provided aren't great for the journey back to the room, or for sitting in your beach chair!

5, Room Service is free!
Yes, that's right. It is included in the price of your cruise.
It's great for breakfast on your Castaway Cay morning, so you can get off of the ship early.
Or it's great late at night, for a late Giant Cookie or Mickey Ice Cream Bar!!
You will want to bring a few dollar bills with you, to tip your Room Service Host.
(Coca-Cola products, and bottled water are not complimentary with room service)

6. Disney Movies!
This is a great time to catch up on a movie that you haven't had time to see just yet! There are always the most recent first-run Disney movies playing in the Buena Vista theater.

And then tons of other classic favorites playing on the pool deck, Funnel Vision!

7.  Bring sunscreen.
Yes, I know. You have a bottle in the beach bag.
But, please, bring 2 more! atleast!
That Caribbean sun is H.O.T!!
 (you can thank me later when you aren't paying $12 per bottle)


8. Pre-pay your gratuities!
This will save lots of hassle while you are on board.
If you do this before you leave home, then you've already budgeted it in, and one less expense you have to pay onboard.

**Also, you are going to LOVE your servers, so you might want to play to bring extra $$ for them**
We always feel like they are our family by the time disembark.

9. While in port:
If you have already been to Nassau, or if you are only on a 3 night cruise, you might not want to get off of the ship!
This is a great time to stay on board, and enjoy a very empty ship!
Watch a movie, go to the Fitness Center or play Croquet with Alice in the Atrium!


10. Highlighters.
We have found that highlighters are a prized possession for us while on board.
We keep a Personal Navigator in the stateroom and we each have our own color.

Then we highlight what we hope to not miss, and this helps us keep track of the day, and each other!!

What's the best way to get to the Disney Cruise Line Terminal?

Here's a breakdown of the Cruise Transportation Options to and from Port Canaveral....and a few extra things to note;

1. Disney Cruise Line Transfers:
Cost: Approx $32 per person (each way)

Pros: Easy! They pick you up at the airport after you retrieve your luggage, deliver you to the Disney Cruise Line terminal, and then return you to the airport at the end of the cruise.

Cons: This might be a costly option for you.

2. Car Service -
Cost: Approx $117 each way or $210 if you book round-trip

Pros: Easy.
A driver will pick you up at the airport, help you retrieve your luggage and deliver you to/from  the Disney Cruise Line Terminal.

Cons: Schedule. This driver will be scheduled for pickup and delivery, so you will need to make sure to get to the Baggage Claim area as quickly as possible after your flight has landed. And the same at the end of the cruise. This will be a scheduled pickup, so you will need to be time-aware.

Some people are "particular" and don't want a "stranger" driving them....in a standard vehicle.
And this might be a little costly for your budget.

3. Taxi -
Cost: Approx $110 each way

Pros: Flexible schedule. When your flight lands, you retrieve your luggage and proceed to the Taxi area to secure your Taxi.

Cons:
Sometimes, you might have to wait on the next available taxi.
Some people are not comfortable with Taxi drivers in general.
Cost might be an issue for this method.

4. One way rental car
Cost: Approx $50 each way

Pros: Complete flexibility. This allows you the opportunity to pick up the car when you are ready to leave the airport, at your convenience.
And it gives you the flexibility of being able to make stops along the way, for groceries, or lunch, or if you realize you have forgotten something at home :)

Cons:
You have to pay the tolls on the interstate.

Of the 4 options, this one requires the most "effort" on your part.
You will have to pickup the car at the airport. And return it to the rental location NEAR the cruise line terminal, but not AT the cruise line terminal.
When you arrive at the Rental Car location, you will return the car, and then, they will shuttle you and your family and your luggage to the terminal.

*This is a very easy process, but it does take a little bit of time. So I would allow 30 minutes from when you arrive at the Rental Car location....until your arrival at the Cruise Line terminal.

Then the same thing in reverse, when your cruise is complete.
You will retrieve your luggage, and then proceed to the Rental Car Shuttle area.
They will shuttle you to the Rental Car location, and then you will pick up your car there, and drive to the airport. And then return the car.
Then proceed inside for your flight, as usual.

Now----on a personal note,
I have used all 4 of these options, with my family.

I have listed them in order of convenience, and they are in reverse order of cost.

So, this is such a personal decision as to which option is best for you and your family.

But, if you are trying to decide...and still need my opinion, please feel free to ask!

JUST ANNOUNCED: NEW DISNEY CRUISE LINE 2012 ITINERARIES

For the first time ever, Disney Cruise Line will set sail from three new U.S. ports beginning in 2012....New York, Seattle, and Galveston, providing even more exciting options for guests to enjoy a Disney cruise vacation. There are also more itinerary choices than ever before!!!

New York Sailings

Beginning May 25, 2012, the Disney Magic will sail a total of 20 cruises from New York, including:

• 8-night Bahamian Cruises, which will include a day at Disney's private island, Castaway Cay, as well as a stop at Port Canaveral, allowing for a day to spend at Walt Disney World. As part of this itinerary, you will receive a one-day Park Hopper ticket and round trip transportation between the ship and the Walt Disney World resort.


• 5-night Canadian/New England Cruises, which will visit Halifax, Nova Scotia. and Saint John, New Brunswick


• 2-night cruises, perfect for a weekend getaway at sea

Seattle Sailings

Beginning May 28, 2012, the Disney Wonder will sail a total of 14 cruises to Alaska from the Port of Seattle, Washington.

• 7-night Alaskan Cruises, visiting Tracy Arm, Skagway, Juneau, and Ketchikan, as well as Victoria, British Columbia

Galveston Sailings

Beginning September 22, 2012, the Disney Magic will sail a total of 12 cruises from the Port of Galveston, Texas.

• 7-night Western Caribbean Cruises, which will visit Costa Maya and Cozumel in Mexico, as well as Grand Cayman

Los Angeles Sailings

In addition to the 7-night Mexican Riviera cruises, the Disney Wonder will set sail on Disney's first-ever voyage to Hawaii on April 29, 2012.

• 15-night Hawaiian Cruise, departing from the Port of Los Angeles and including stops at Hilo; Kahului, Maui; Honolulu, Oahu; Nawiliwili, Kauai, and Ensenada, Mexico.


• 7-night Pacific Coast Cruises, visiting San Francisco, San Diego, and Ensenada, Mexico.

The Disney Dream will continue to sail 3, 4, and 5-night Bahamian cruises. The brand new Disney Fantasy will offer Eastern and Western Caribbean itineraries, beginning with her maiden voyage on March 31, 2012.

Bookings for these 2012 itineraries can be made beginning Thursday, April 7, 2012.
